The Bull-Original Painting by Bill Langis

$ 2,400
Inspired by years of filming wildlife in the forests and wetlands of northern New Hampshire and Maine, The Bull reflects my firsthand experience observing moose in their natural habitat. Much of the Inspiration came from the logging roads near Millinocket, Maine, and the famous Moose Alley region of Pittsburg, New Hampshire, where I spent nearly a decade photographing an filming these magnificent animals. Those countless hours in the field gave me a clear vision for the painting long before I ever picked up the brush.
Although the bull moose is the undeniable focal point, every element of the composition was intentionally designed to lead the viewer's eye towards his impressive rack and expressive face. Warm golden light filters through the pine trees, naturally illuminating the antlers while remaining softer than the highlights on the moose itself. The surrounding pines frame the animal, their drooping branches subtly directing attention toward the center of the composition. A narrow waterway, reflections, and a carefully placed log beneath the moose's front feet further guide the eye into the scene, creating a sense of depth while capturing the quiet beauty of a northern woodland marsh. The result is a painting that celebrates both the majesty of the bull moose and the peaceful wilderness it calls home.
